1. About the service
Rate My Instructor is a UK learner-driver review and instructor-discovery service operated under the trading name Rate My Instructor. It is not a driving school, booking agent, insurer, regulator or employer of instructors. Users remain responsible for checking that an instructor, lesson arrangement and any third-party service are suitable before proceeding.
2. Accounts and age
You must provide accurate information, keep your login details secure and use only your own account. The service may be used by learner drivers aged 17. Users under 18 should avoid sharing unnecessary personal information and ask a parent or guardian for help if they do not understand these terms or a safety issue.
3. Reviews and profile publication
Reviews and community-added instructor profiles normally appear after submission and are not routinely pre-approved. We may use account controls, profanity checks, reporting tools and proportionate manual or automated checks before or after publication. Publication does not mean that Rate My Instructor has verified every statement or profile detail.
4. Review rules
Only review an instructor from your own genuine experience or genuine attempt to take lessons. Do not submit fake, paid, concealed incentivised, retaliatory, coordinated, copied or misleading reviews; impersonate another person; manipulate ratings; include private addresses or unnecessary personal information; make threats; or knowingly make false allegations. Serious allegations should be expressed carefully, factually and from first-hand knowledge.
5. Fair presentation and paid features
Positive and negative reviews are subject to the same rules. Instructor Pro and Learner Plus do not alter ratings, hide negative reviews, create verified status or improve organic ranking. Any sponsored placement introduced later will be clearly labelled and kept separate from the underlying rating and review record.
6. Instructor profiles
Profiles may be added by learners, instructors or other community members. A community profile may not have been created or confirmed by the instructor. Professional details may be corrected, claimed, objected to or reported. Claimed, promoted and verified statuses are separate and must not be interpreted as the same thing.
7. Reports, complaints and appeals
Use the in-app Report tools, Help & Safety or the Content Complaints & Appeals page for fake reviews, incorrect data, privacy concerns, unlawful content, threats, defamation complaints or moderation appeals. Include the content or profile concerned, why it is wrong or unlawful, supporting facts and the outcome requested. We may contact relevant parties for information and keep a record of the decision.
8. Prohibited and urgent content
Do not use the service for threats, harassment, hate, fraud, stalking, doxxing, sexual exploitation, instructions for serious wrongdoing or other unlawful activity. If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services. A report to Rate My Instructor is not a replacement for contacting the police, DVSA, a safeguarding body or another appropriate authority.
9. Instructor Pro
Instructor Pro is an optional monthly business subscription for instructors. The relevant Apple or Google store shows the price, billing period and applicable tax before purchase. It renews automatically unless cancelled through the store account. Cancellation normally stops future renewal and access ordinarily continues until the end of the paid period. Mandatory rights and the store’s applicable refund rules are not affected.
10. Learner Plus
Learner Plus is an optional one-time digital purchase for private comparison and learner-organiser tools. Search, maps, instructor profiles, contact details, saved instructors, reading reviews and leaving reviews remain available without Learner Plus. The store shows the final price before purchase, and eligible purchases may be restored through the relevant store account.
11. Your content and licence
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Rate My Instructor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, format, moderate and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, protect and promote the service. You must have the right to submit the content and may not upload material that infringes another person’s rights.
12. Suspension, removal and service changes
We may restrict accounts, content or access where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, repeated rule-breaking, platform security or protection of users and instructors. Where appropriate, an affected user may appeal. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, but this does not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Accuracy, third parties and liability
We take reasonable care in operating the service but cannot guarantee that every profile, review, map result, contact detail or third-party link is complete, current or accurate. Users should make their own checks. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or mandatory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This does not remove any mandatory consumer rights or rights to bring proceedings that apply where a user lives.
